To Include Equipment UDAs in Product Codes and Descriptions

This procedure details how to use Equipment UDAs in product code descriptions that will appear when running a BOQ report.
  1. Open the Equipment Manager from the Equipment & Raceway tab.
  2. Click the Create/Modify Equipment tab and open the EQP_ITPanel as shown:
  3. In the Equipment Properties section add Voltage as a User Defined Attribute (UDA):
  4. Set the Value to 120V if not set already.
  5. Click OK and place the component in the drawing using the standard placement procedure.
  6. Next open the Object Info dialog and copy the name of the cabinet.
  7. Next, navigate to the following directory in a File Explorer window: C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Workspaces\BRCM Imperial Example\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\equipment

    From this directory open the CAT_EQP_PCode_EN.xml file in a text editor.

  8. Search for the tag name of the cabinet and enter the following macro in the Description field:
    Tip: You can paste the cabinet name copied above into the Search field.
    ($UVVoltage)
    Where:
    • $UV finds the defined value for the attribute.
    • Voltage is the UDA id.
      Note: The UDA ids are found in the following location: C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Workspaces\BRCM Imperial Example\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\equipment\CFG_EQPModeler.xml\
  9. Save the changes.
  10. Open the Output Manager and select the Detail_BOQ report.
  11. Click Select Resources to open the Collaboration Manager.
  12. Right click on the drawing(s) to include in the report, or Select All, then select Request Lock.
    Note: For this example just a single drawing was selected.
  13. Click OK to return to the Output Manager.
  14. Click Preview to view the report.
    Note: The Voltage is included in both the Description and Product Code columns.
